Borders Closing Down

Posted by sithenah (Greater Manchester/Cheshire, United Kingdom) on 26 January 2010 in Business & Industry and Portfolio.

The book store chain Borders closed down in December 2009. This was their store in Stockport. The "up to 50% off" posters during the closing down sales appear to be indentical to the ones that went up at Woolworths twelve months before.

Ah, Borders and books -- a lot the stores are closing here in the states as well! Great shot for the day!

A great shot but sad news.
I posted a bookstore too. Our used book places are thriving.

That was sad. I have visited many Borders stores in the UK, and I have always come out again with something interesting to read.

Such a shame when book stores close down. These are my favourite stores in which to browse.

Our Borders closed last year or late the year before. It's a bummer; I really liked that place.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday team, thank you!

It's always a shame when a bookstore has to close. I feel as if a bit of imagination is lost like that.

We used to have a Borders in our mall. I will have to check and see if it is still open! Great B! Goodbye to a great bookstore!

Borders closing was a terrribly sad thing. We couldn't even get to our nearest one (an hour away) due to the snow!

A pity indeed, since we have a grand total of ONE decent bookshop in this city.

Oh, I am so glad our Border's is still in business and thriving!

Is this a sign of the times? Borders is one USA business that has not expanded into Canada. The big box book store here is Chapters. Perhaps I could use it next week for ABC Wednesday Letter "C". Your choice this week is a good photo. See ya' next week for the challenge.

Oh, what a pity... I hate when bookstores close down... A beautiful building, by the way.

Thanks for sharing!

Tragic! It's so sad to see any place close down but I find bookstores the worst.
