The high contrast and grain really give this one a timeless feel. The bird's "expression" makes it seem like a candid, if there is such a thing for nature photography.

@Tommy: certainly candid -- only pigeons and starlings will pose for photographs! The hardest to catch are the long-tailed tits -- some of my more successful shots can be seen at http://ackworthborn.blogspot.com/search/label/birds

Thats a nice shot. Did u try giving it a Sepia look/touch? and try to crop the red wall out. Im just a beginner..just giving my opinions!

@Prithvi Mandava: I didn't give it a sepia look - what I did was "equalise the histogram" - not quite sure what that means but it brings out the contrasts very well and worked well to highlight the bird and the branches whilst softening the background beyond. I've only recently started to see what software can do.
