Looks like St. Olaf gets the last word in the evening sky!

I must correct Sandy Carlsson: The statue is of Olav Trygvasson who founded Trondheim, Not Olav Haraldsson who became St. Olav (or St. Olaf).

Just being pedantic.

@randi: Well I was only there for a few hours so only time for a fleeting glimpse - you can read my account at http://www.geraldengland.co.uk/cr/crj009.htm and some more at http://ackworthborn.blogspot.com/2008/03/gamle-bybro.html

I'm posting another Trondheim photo next Friday too.

This is such a massive statue, Gerald. I wonder why people thought it had to be quite that imposing to honour his memory. I do like the greyness of the sky.

This statue reminds me of the poem by Shelley about Ozymandias. It is all about the power of nature and the mortality of man.
